Moving Tips

• Make a note of your shipment registration number bill. Keep it with you in case you need to call your mover with questions.
• Make a list of items that will need special handling, this includes glass table tops, marble tops, taxidermy and heavy mirrors or pictures that may need wood crating.
• Move your current phone book with you; you may need to call residences or businesses in your former hometown.
• Obtain a change-of-address kit from the post office and begin filling out the cards.
• Contact utility and related companies for service disconnect/connect at your old and new addresses.
• Make an inventory and evaluate what you can sell or donate to a charitable organization.
• Bring everything that you're moving to one location.
• After you've cleaned and dried the inside of your refrigerator, place fresh baking soda or charcoal inside it to keep the interior smelling fresh.
• Double check closets, drawers, shelves, attic, and garage to be sure they are empty.
• Before the van foreman leaves for your new residence, give him a phone number where you can be reached, and get the van foreman's cell phone number
• Organize and set aside those things you're taking with you so they don't get loaded on the van in error.
